Tachometers work by counting pulses generated by the ignition system, alternator, tach signal generator or magnetic pickup sender. The tach is hooked up to +12vDC, Ground and one of the signal sources listed above.

By selecting the right tach and setting the switch on the back to the correct position you let the tachometer know how many pulses are sent per each engine revolution.

These tachometers have a warning light system built into the dial that show off warning indicators when a fault is detected from the engine. Available with SystemCheck®, Suzuki Monitor® or OBD warning systems.
The Faria/Beede Instruments, Inc. has been manufacturing “World Class” Instrumentation in Uncasville, CT for more than 50 years (Established in 1956) and has grown from a company that primarily produced tachometers for the marine and auto industries into a company that today offers a multitude of analog and digital engine monitoring instrumentation to a wide range of global markets.
In the early 1960’s Faria/Beede started producing tachometers with the Ford Motor Company. The first application was for the Comet Rally Pack and the Falcon Sprint. Faria/Beede later designed and developed tachometers for the famed Mustang and Shelby Cobra. Faria/Beede has supplied Volkswagen of America, Chrysler Corp. During this period Faria/Beede was producing more than a million tachometers per year.
By the Late 1970’s Faria/Beede’s customer base expanded to include such equipment manufactures as Caterpillar, Allis Chalmers, International Harvester, Bobcat, etc., etc. Stationary power equipment and Gen-set manufacturers, all who found Faria/Beede instruments to be rugged enough to withstand the most harsh environments.
